Todd Shepard is a historian who works on France’s post-1945 Algerian pasts. His books include The Invention of Decolonization: The Algerian War and the Remaking of France (2006), Sex, France, and Arab Men, 1962-1979 (2018), and Voices of Decolonization: A Brief History with Documents (2014). He is the Arthur O. Lovejoy Professor of History and Co-Director of the Program for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA).
