Mars Tessa

Tessa Mars (1985) is a Haitian visual artist born and raised in Port-au-Prince. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts at Rennes 2 University in France in 2006 after which she returned to live and work in Haiti. Her work investigates the legacies of the Haitian revolution when it comes to contemporary understandings of Resistance, survival, and creation. Her work has been shown recently at Prospect 6 New Orléans (2024) , and at the third edition of the Toronto Biennale of Art (2024). Her most recent solo show Nan dòmi: Las canciones que cantamos was presented at Casa del Lago In Mexico City in May 2024. She is an Alumn of the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (2020-2022), and currently resides in Puerto Rico.
