Shakila Haider is an artist and art educator born in Quetta who now lives and works in Lahore. She received her BFA in miniature painting from NCA, Lahore (2013) and her MA in Art Education from BNU, Lahore (2019). As an artist, Shakila is interested in exploring issues of immigration, persecution, refugees, feminism, and peace. She was also named Beaconhouse Emerging Artist of the Year at the Lahore Literary Festival (2015). Shakila had several art exhibitions and solo shows at Rohtas Art Gallery. Besides that, she has participated in TCF “Art for Education” in Museo Diocesano Milan, Italy (2018); Lahore Biennale Maktab Project (2018); a group show of international artists, “Tapestry of Fading Gardens” at 1X1 Art Gallery, UAE (2020); a group show, self-portraits, “In the Age of Selfie,” COMO Museum, Lahore (2020). She was part of “Mind Mapping” A project with the Children of Walled City Lahore, a project by OSCH, Faiz Festival, and WCLA (2022). Shakila also co-curated an exhibition “The Forgotten Floods by Lok Sujag” at Numaish Gah, Lahore (2023).
