Nazik Armenakyan began working as a photojournalist in 2002 and completed a yearlong photo journalism course at the World Press Photo’s Caucasus Institute in 2004-2005. She has worked for Armenpress News Agency, Yerevan Magazine, Forum Magazine, and ArmeniaNow.com. She has participated in local and international group exhibitions in Armenia, the U.S., China, Hong Kong, India, and Russia, and in 2009, she received the Grand Prix Award and was first place in the “People and Faces” category of the Karl Bulla International Photo Contest for her long-term project Survivors. In 2011, she received a fellowship from the Magnum Foundation and a Documentary Photography Production Grant from Open Society Foundations. She is one of the founders of 4Plus, a non-profit organization that aims to develop documentary photography in Armenia.
