Lilia Benbelaïd

Benbelaid Lilia

Lilia Benbelaïd (b. 1991) is a Beirut-based Algerian french visual artist.

Trained as an architect, she founded Farasheh project in 2019, a landscape and environmental project based in Shatila refugee camp and supported by the Fondation de France.

Through her envisioned urban landscape silkscreens, Lilia proposes a glimpse at an elsewhere through an ever so fragmentary and fictive composition, and has exhibited her series of artworks in France, Lebanon and Italy.  She is currently writing and illustrating a comic strip, whose work-in-progress she exhibited at Beirut Livres, organized by the Institut Français of Beirut in October 2023.
