J. Vehia Wheeler is an activist for Independence and Justice of Oceania. Coming from Mā’ohi (Tahitian) ancestry and born and raised in Hawaiʻi, they identify strongly with the Pacific and the perpetuation of Oceanic cultures. They are a graduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi, studying towards their MA degree in Pacific Island Studies and a Certificate in Urban and Regional Planning. The intent of their research is to center Mā’ohi voices and rights in the future of Tahiti Nui.
