Arivuchelvi

Arivuchelvi is a human rights defender who has been organizing protests and mobilizing women for movements demanding justice and accountability against the crimes and violations that are committed and being committed by the Sri Lankan government. She was forced out of her home to the public domain when her husband was forcibly disappeared in 2009 during war. Ever since that, she has been going to military camps, state institutions, state commissions, foreign missions and other relevant stakeholders including the United Nations demanding to know the whereabouts of her husband and other forcefully disappeared persons. She has been actively engaging with the younger generation of activists to provide support for their work and collaborate with them to amplify the focus around the issue of disappearances and mass-graves.
