Alexis Pauline Gumbs is a queer Black feminist writer and scholar and an aspirational cousin to all life. She is the author of a triptych of poetic theoretical books in conversation with Black women theorists: Spill: Scenes of Black Feminist Fugitivity, M Archive: After the End of the World, and Dub: FInding Ceremony. Most recently she wrote Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals, and she is now in the midst of writing a biography of Audre Lorde. Alexis is the co-creator of the Mobile Homecoming Trust, an intergenerational experiential archive of Black LGBTQ and Feminist Brilliance in Durham, North Carolina. Alexis is also the creative writing editor of Feminist Studies, the co-editor of Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Front Lines, and the literary advisor to the Ntozake Shange Trust.
