Ayano Ginoza is an Associate Professor in the Research Institute for Islands and Sustainability at the University of the Ryukyus. Her work has looked at cultures of militarism and tourism in Okinawa as articulated through gendered narratives. She currently focuses on issues of performativity and indigeneities of militarized islands cultures as articulated in Okinawan diasporic communities in California.
